🐝 Bee Right Back 🐝
As you might have heard on Twitter, one of my furry children is going through a rough time. While work on BobaBoard is still proceeding, I'm taking a break from consistent, long-form updates to focus on saving my spoons for the work (and the people, and the animals)that make me the happiest.
Expect a new edition early in the new year. In the meantime, please do give a socially-distanced squeeze to those you love on my behalf!
This month we got a new navigation menuwith a "recently updated" section and board pinning for quick access. Next, there's been a bunch of performance work, adding server-side rendering and caching (though the fight against long-thread loading performance still lives on). New boards were created (like !queerpub, featuring our new favorite queer-rep angel), !fandom, !ships, !niche, and !music. Users have also been given the revolutionary ability to edit tags in preparation for tags denylisting and search, both of which are currently being worked on. We also did a big "tag symbols switcharoo" (yay for alpha!) and a lot of visual fixes all around, including full-width images/embeds.
It's been a while since BobaBoard was first announced! While these newsletters have enthralled our fans with the month by month happenings, our FUCQs are now woefully out of date, and a more long-term vision of the future needs to be charted. Here's a rundown of some of the questions we're likely to tackle with the next update:
